Joel Melrose

Born 1985 in Frankston, Australia, Joel is a self-taught artist now living in Northern NSW. His work explores the complexities of the human condition, from joy to depravity, touching on themes like drug use, politics, sexuality, and the absurdity of modern life. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of influences—including cartoons and popular culture—Joel experiments with various mediums, often creating works that juxtapose childlike innocence with adult themes. This unique blend results in an engaging and thought-provoking body of work that invites viewers to reflect on the contradictions inherent in our society.
